The  first time i started venturing into the internet business wold was in 2005. Back then internet marketing was much easier and the competition isn’t as hot as it is now. A couple of months back, i started exploring how to drive traffic using videos. I started with posting comments on video sites such as youtube to actually creating my own video and posting it with my links in it to drive traffic to my site. I was quite happy that it did drive some traffic to my site though it wasn’t  that fantastic.  Then i begin to get bolder and decided that i should build my own video sharing site ( youtube clone ) so to speak. I must say i have absolutely no IT background and don’t have the slightest idea how i could do it. Did some searches in google on youtube clone script and manage to find a couple of free script i could download. I also came to realise that i need a special hosting package that supports video hosting. ( with ffpmeg ) Eventually i decided to use  a script call phpmotion which comes  free with the hosting service i subscript. Took sometime to setup and upload a few videos. ( you can get them from youtube, dailymotion etc… ) It was a very tedious process i must say. But i eventually got it done and started to add more videos daily. Frankly, after the initial setup, i didnt really do much as i was sidetrack by other projects which i was working on earlier. To my amazement, barely after two month, i am getting a steady flow of 30 unique visitors a day and i hardly did any advertising. I am really very encourage and i tell myself i will start to advertise this site and see if i can drive the traffic to a hundred by end of this month. Hi,

After being on the internet for at least five years. I’ve seem many gurus come and go. Along the way there were many scams as well. Personally, i have experience many so call gurus who started out well but got greedy along the way. All they do these days are cashing in on their past glories by showing how much they make in the past and teaching  you for an astronomous amount promising you the stars and the moon. 

Now don’t get me wrong. It’s ok to teach for a living. We should all leverage on our strength. But please bare in mind that we need to be ethical and not exagerate on the expectation to upsell your program.

Well…this might sound a little late, but as the saying goes , better late that never. Even since i left for china to work. I havnet been blogging. Now that im back, i want to commit myself to post at least 3 times a week to catchup for lost times as well as with those who have been following this blog.

Last week , i interview a successful young local internet marketer who is earning close to USD5K part-time. What does he sells online you may ask. Well…he make money with his simple sites selling physical product such as Iphone and iphone covers. When i ask him what kind of traffic is he getting a day, he told me about 100. 100 unique visitors a day and he is making USD5K!!!  WOW…I Said to myself , if i have this kind of traffic i may not be making anyting close to to his numbers.  Obviously his conversion rate must be quite good…maybe above 3%.

Having been selling digital product for awhile, i have alway get a conversion rte of 1% or less these days. I really need to reevaluation my strtegy or maybe switch to selling physical product someday.

As we enter into the second month of  2009. I see a rapid slowdown of the economy which seem to render many countries helpless.

Contrary to what most people believe, leadership is not about power. It is not about harassing people or driving them using fear. It is about encouraging others towards the goal of the organization. It is putting everyone on the same page and helping them see the big picture of the organization. You must be a leader not a boss.

First of all, you have to get people to follow you. How is this accomplished?People follow others when they see a clear sense of purpose. People will only follow you if they see that you know where you are going. Remember that bumper sticker? The one that says, don’t follow me, I’m lost too? The same holds true for leadership. If you yourself do not know where you’re headed to, chances are people will not follow you at all.

You yourself must know the vision of the organization. Having a clear sense of hierarchy, knowing who the bosses are, who to talk to, the organization’s goals and objectives, and how the organization works is the only way to show others you know what you are doing.

Being a leader is not about what you make others do. It’s about who you are, what you know, and what you do. You are a reflection of what you’re subordinates must be.

Studies have shown that one other bases of good leadership is the trust and confidence your subordinates have of you. If they trust you they will go through hell and high water for you and for the organization.

Trust and confidence is built on good relationships, trustworthiness, and high ethics.

The way you deal with your people, and the relationships you build will lay the foundation for the strength of your group. The stronger your relationship, the stronger their trust and confidence is in your capabilities.

Once you have their trust and confidence, you may now proceed to communicate the goals and objectives you are to undertake.

Communication is a very important key to good leadership. Without this you can not be a good leader. The knowledge and technical expertise you have must be clearly imparted to other people.

Also, you can not be a good leader and unless you have good judgment. You must be able to assess situations, weigh the pros and cons of any decision, and actively seek out a solution.

It is this judgment that your subordinates will come to rely upon. Therefore, good decision-making is vital to the success of your organization.

Leaders are not do-it-all heroes. You should not claim to know everything, and you should not rely upon your skills alone.

You should recognize and take advantage of the skills and talents your subordinates have. Only when you come to this realization will you be able to work as one cohesive unit.

Remember being a leader takes a good deal of work and time. It is not learned overnight. Remember, also, that it is not about just you. It is about you and the people around you.

The more you learn, the more you’ll want to know, and the more your faculty of wonder will be exercised. Be amazed at little facts that add a bit of color into your life. 

Focus on a creative activity daily. It takes effort. Even doodling is a creative activity. Stop at nothing. People who are just starting out to unleash a little bit of creative thinking in their lives, it is helpful and encouraging to have concrete evidence, that,  Practice drawing for a couple of minutes each day. Bring out your old camera and start snapping photos like crazy. Keeping  a journal and making it  a point to write in it down daily helps. Another great idea is to write by describing something with your five senses. Avoid vague adjectives like “marvelous,” “amazing,” and “delicious.” In not time, you would  built yourself a tiny portfolio, and will  be so amazed at the growth you’ve undertaken after amassing all those works. You’ll never knows, you might actually take to liking those things you do everyday. Soon those things will become a part of you and you’ll be addicted to these creative activities.

Thinking  out of the box helps. Sometimes, constraints are actually  good for you. Limitations discipline you to work within your means. It brings out your  resourcefulness. Creativeness  is great, but limitations enforce discipline.

Try something new daily and let your experiences broaden your perspective. Explore your surrounding. Spend an time in a places you’ve never been before. Chat up someone you meet. Be friendly to people around you. As you get out  of your comfort zone more and more each day, your sense of adventure grows and so does your zest for life. . When was the last time you did something new? If you cannot remember it then  I tell you, you’ve been missing out on an experiences that could’ve added to your growth, emotionally, mentally, physically, or spiritually. Why don’t you try sky diving today? Not only will you learn,  will also have many thrills to share. Thus putting to  practice your storytelling skills and making you in the lime light.

Embrace insanity. But not to the point of practically admitting yourself into the mental assylum. As John Russell puts it, “Sanity calms, but madness is more interesting.” Each creative thought was once thought of as insanity by other “normal” people at one time or another. Fortunately, that didn’t stop the creative geniuses from standing by them. The fact  is, sanity or being normal confines people to think… well, normally. Withink limits. Creativity is essentially breaking through barriers. It includes the bizzarre and the downright strange. I’m not suggesting that you develop a creative personality.  An example of a creative personality would be George Washington, who often rode into battle naked, or James Joyce, who wrote “Dubliners” with beetle juice for an intense fear of ink, or Albert Einstein, who thought his cat was a spy sent by his rival . Amke sure your creativity doesn’t get you separated  from the real world.  Unleash your creative thinking  and bring a new zest into your life.

Earn Income refers to the income from your direct labour. It involves the time and effort you put in, in exchange for a salary or a fee. Make your home your asset - Is your home an asset or a liability? Have you consider renting instead of owning a house? Renting allows you the flexibility to pursue investments without having a commitment to a long home mortgage.

In most cases people buy a house and then furnish it in such a way that they cannot afford to allocate any money towards investment. With children coming along it becomes even more difficult to save. The only way to stay on top of the rat race is to work harder in their current job or to take up a second one to suppliment the income.

A good way to prioritize your finance is to invest and reinvest your earning rather than own a house first. Once you have mulitiple streams of income from your investment, you may want to consider paying cash to buy your dream home then.

Take a look at these two scenarios. Option 1 is to rent an apartment for $280 per week. Option 2 is to buy a $180,000 apartment, which would take a deposit of $36,000 and then repayments of $245.38 per week for the next thirty years (interest at 8% fixed).

In order for renting to be a better option I need to recover $34.62 per week (the difference between the rent and house repayments).

Remember I need a deposit of $36,000 on the purchase. If I hadn’t used that money as a deposit I could have invested it. If I had of chosen an average investment and achieved a return of 15% per annum, then my return would be $5,400 per year.

The cost of rent above house repayments is $34.62 per week or $1,800.24 per annum. This still leaves me $3,599.76 better off ($5,400 less $1,800.24) each year.

Over thirty years, investing that $3,599.76 at 15% interest (compounding annually) would leave me with an investment of $7,969,515.97. If I was an exceptional investor and achieved a 20% return, my new investment after thirty years would be $29,927,699.19.

Compare that with the value of the apartment after 30 years. Being generous let’s say that the apartment’s value is tenfold what I bought it for. It is now worth $1,800,000. This is still $6,169,515.97 less than my 15% investment option.

So what is the interest I would have paid on the apartment loan over thirty years? $202,792.80? Thirty-seven and a half years rent!

The money you use for renting may not generate you income. But this amount is insignificant compared with the amount of interest that you pay on a thirty year home loan.

Yes, owning a home may be your dream right now. However, learning to put your money into investment and make it work for you before you buy the house alway makes more dollars and sense. This way, you transform your liabilities into asset.

Multiply your savings -  Making your savings work for you is one important move to creating massive wealth in the long run. Return on investment or ( ROI ) is the money that flows back to you as a result of an investment. The two important terms to know when investing is simple and compound interest.

Simple interest is the return that your cash investment generates. It can be calculated by first multiplying your investment by the annual interest rate. This gives you the amount of interest that you will receive each year. If your investment is for less than a year you then need to multiply your annual interest by the number of days of the investment period divided by 365. ( pro-rate )
e.g.  A $2,000 investment at 10% per annum would yield a $200 return at the end of the year. However, if your investment is less than a year, say 200 days. Then you would take the $200 interest multiple by 200day / 365 days ( per year )  which is $109.

At this point, you can alway choose to withdraw the interest and spend it. On the other hand you can choose to reinvest it and let your money snowball.

With compound interest, the calculation gets a little more complicated but  the return is also more interesting. Instead of just returning you a flat rate over the year. Your interest per month is added to the sum and the same interest rate is now base on a bigger sum. Just like the snowball effect.

Understanding the difference between simple and compound interest will help you make a better decision in your investment. Look at the figures in your account and understand how it’s being calculated. Find a better deal if possible. The initial difference may not be very substantial in the beginning. But do your math and you will see the difference it makes over the next decade or two.
